नीचे भाषा परीक्षण के लिए एक अनुच्छेद दिया गया है ऐसे अनुच्छेद जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय प्रवेश परीक्षा में पूछे जाते हैं, जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय कक्षा छठवीं की परीक्षा अब कुछ ही दिन शेष रह गया है। अब यदि कोई विद्यार्थी इस अनुच्छेद के नीचे दी गई सभी 5 प्रश्नों का सही उत्तर बना लेता है तो उसकी भाषा क्षमता परीक्षण की तैयारी अच्छी मानी जाएगी।
चयन परीक्ष के इस भाग का विशेष महत्व होता है। क्योंकि इस भाग से परीक्षा का एक चौथाई अंक अर्थात 25 प्रतिशत अंक निर्धारित होता है। जिसके लिए गद्यांशों पर आधारित 20 प्रश्नों के लिए 4 अनुच्छेद दिए जाते हैं। जिसमें समझ, चेतना, विचार, व्याकरण आदि पर आधारित प्रश्न पूछे जाते हैं। यहाँ ऐसे ही एक अनुच्छेद दिया जा रहा है। आशा है बच्चों की तैयारी में मदद मिल सके।

वस्तुओं को उनके उपयोग के आधार पर दो प्रकार से विभाजित किया जा सकता है। पूरक वस्तु और स्थानापन्न वस्तु। पूरक वस्तु वे होती हैं जिनका उपयोग किसी अन्य वस्तु के साथ मिलकर किया जाता है। उदाहरण के लिए, चाय और चीनी, पेन और स्याही, जूते और जुराबें आदि। इनमें से किसी एक वस्तु की कीमत में बदलाव होने पर दूसरी वस्तु की मांग पर भी प्रभाव पड़ता है। यदि चाय की कीमत बढ़ जाए तो लोग कम चाय पीएंगे और इससे चीनी की मांग भी कम हो जाएगी। स्थानापन्न वस्तु वे होती हैं जिनका उपयोग किसी अन्य वस्तु के बदले में किया जाता है। उदाहरण के लिए, चावल और गेहूं, बटर और जाम, कोला और जूस आदि। इनमें से किसी एक वस्तु की कीमत में बदलाव होने पर दूसरी वस्तु की मांग पर भी प्रभाव पड़ता है। यदि चावल की कीमत बढ़ जाए तो लोग ज्यादा गेहूं खाएंगे और इससे चावल की मांग कम हो जाएगी।
