Passage - 1

In the 150th year of Gandhi Jayanti, two illustrated books have appeared on Gandhiji. One is named "Bapu Ki Paati" and the other is titled "Ek Tha Mohan". The author of both these books is Mr. Sopan Joshi. And book has been painted by Mr. Somesh Kumar and published by ITM University, Gwalior (MP). Both of these books are unique in their own way from the books published earlier on Gandhiji. There are forty small chapters in Ek Tha Mohan, all have different messages of Gandhiji hidden in the title, while in the second book Bapu Ki Paati, there is a collection of Bapu's biography, thoughts, principles and life episodes.

Add a little curd to the milk, then the whole milk gradually turns into curd. Similarly, fruits and vegetables kept for long time rot. Sometimes we suddenly get sick. Do you know why this happens ? There are different types of animals on our earth - animals such as trees, elephants, humans, fish, birds, ants. All these are visible to us with eyes. We call them large organisms (macro organisms). But there are some creatures that we cannot see with naked eyes, we need microscopes to see such creatures. So we call them microorganisms. These microbes are also the cause of making milk curd, rotting substances and making us sick.

You must have read or heard about Sea. One such Sea is the "Dead Sea" which is considered a wonder because of its many characteristics. It lies between Israel and Jordan countries of the continent of Asia. You must be wondering why it is called Dead Sea? Actually its water is very salty. One kilo of water contains about 200 grams of salt. Due to the high amount of mineral salts like potash, bromite, magnesium, zinc, sulfur, neither this water is drinkable nor the salt present in it can be used. Due to the high concentration of salt, fish or other aquatic organisms cannot survive in its water and aquatic plants also do not thrive. That is why it is named "Dead Sea".

Passage - 4

Different crops have different seasons to grow. Soil, rain, light, heat etc. affect the growth and yield of crops. Crops vary depending on the season. Like the first Kharif season crop, it is planted during the monsoon season (June-July) and harvesting takes place in October-November. Major crops are paddy, maize, moong, urad, jowar, sugarcane, cotton etc. The second Ravi season crop is planted in the winter season (October – November), in March – April. And the main crops harvested are wheat, gram, peas, mustard etc. The third Zayd is the season crop, it is planted in the month of February and harvesting takes place in the months of March to May. The major crops are melon, watermelon, cucumber, sunflower, groundnut etc.
